Pine City has Tough Outing Against Esko

The Dragons hosted Esko this past Friday.

The first half of the game between the Dragons and Eskomos was a defensive battle. Both teams were able to find some rhythm but couldn't capitalize. Esko did score in the 1st quarter on a fourth down run from Perich, to give them an 8-0 lead. Pine City was averaging close to if not more than five yards a carry in the first half. In the 2nd quarter with under a minute left Esko moved the ball to the half yard line. The Dragons made a stop on first and goal and on second and goal they were able to grab a turnover off of a fumble. Pine City started on their own six. But two plays later the Dragons fumbled and gave it back to Esko. It only took one play for Esko to score, and they would take a 15-0 lead going into the half. The second half Esko was able to find some holes on the defense and scored 21 more points in the second half. Despite this the Dragons never gave up and played with pride. Pine City would fall to Esko 36-0.

Brody Clark lead the Dragons with over 50 yards rushing and he averaged five yards per carry. As a team the Dragons ran for nearly 150 yards shattering the average that Esko gives up which was 78 yards per game. On defense, Timmy Johnson had a sack and Ryan Plasek lead the team in tackles. It seemed every time a runner went down he was near. The Dragons also had a fake punt pass completed for 23 yards, Riley Cummings threw it to Elliot Blatz.
