Pine City Schools Look to Start the Year Off with A Party

As students get ready to head back to school, the Pine City School District’s open house has been turned into a Back to School Bash.

The additional fanfare follows a year and a half of pandemic, which has left families not excited to start the school year. To make sure things begin with a positive tone, school board member Becci Palmblade thought it would be fun to make Pine City's typical back-to-school night a party.

"As a parent first, it has been a rough couple of years," Palmblade told WCMP. "I have a little who is really not excited to go back to school, and I'm sure that I'm not alone there. I thought we really need to set the tone for the year and let the kids, staff, and the community know that we are here."

Palmblade enlisted the help of the Pine Dragon PTO to help organize local businesses and community groups to feed 1,300 people.

The event will differ between the Pine City High School and Elementary School, but attendees can expect walking tacos for dinner, live music, and booths showcasing various community groups.

Back to school night will run from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m, with food and music happening between 5:00 and 7:00 on Wednesday, September 1.
