The Pine City School District is looking to honor community veterans during an upcoming celebration.
The program will be held at the High School with Superintendent Paula Foley saying this will be a time for students to learn.
"It's a great opportunity for us to teach kids what it means to be a veteran and what it means to make some of the sacrifices they have," Foley told WCMP. "This will also be an awesome opportunity for our kids, facility, and staff to show our gratitude to those who have served on our behalf."
A variety of student groups have come together to put on the program, which will include speakers and a video created by students to honor local heroes.
Foley says they are looking for community members to nominate local veterans to be included in the video. Nominations can be sent to Mr. Kringstad via his email, Dkringstad@isd578.org. In the email, you are asked to include the veteran's name, rank, branch, years of active service, if they are a friend or relative of PCPS students or staff, and a picture. Submissions must be sent in by this Friday.
The program will take place on Monday, November 15, in the High School Auditorium. All are welcome to attend, but visitors and students are asked to wear a mask. The ceremony itself will be recorded for people to watch later.
