Pine City wedding photographer sentenced to two years of probation in privacy interference case

A Pine City wedding photographer was sentenced on Wednesday to two years of probation after pleading guilty to secretly recording a bride getting dressed in 2020.

31-year-old Mitchell Ringness had been charged with a gross misdemeanor count of privacy interference, and entered a guilty plea last October.

According to the criminal complaint, the Cloquet Police Department was provided a thumb drive containing sexual conduct material by Ringness’ significant other on April 2, 2024.

A video on the drive depicted the victim partially naked in a bridal dressing room from a low angle.

After she gets dressed, a photographer enters the room, and the sound of Ringness’ name is heard.

Authorities confirmed with the victim that Ringness was the photographer for the October 2020 wedding at an Albert Lea venue. She said she didn’t know about the hidden camera.

Ringness could be re-sentenced to 180 days in jail if he violates his probation.
