The Pine County Board approved sponsoring a road improvement project for Pine City during a meeting last week.
Pine City is looking to acquire $1.5 million through the Local Road Improvement Project Fund to rehab the section of 4th Street SE that runs next to Pine Technical and Community College.
The county would be required to sponsor and act as the fiscal agent for the project if the funds are awarded.
Pine County Engineer Mark LeBrun said that Pine County has only had one application approved over the years, but he is hopeful because the road is of regional significance because of PTCC.
