Pine County Sheriff's Office: Man arrested following pursuit with authorities

A man was arrested for second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and other felony offenses after leading law enforcement on a pursuit on Tuesday.


According to a press release, authorities were notified of a male party who entered a business on Main Street in Pine City, stole some items, and attempted to run someone over with his vehicle while leaving.


A Pine County deputy found the suspected vehicle soon after and attempted to pull it over. The suspect fled, initiating a pursuit.


The suspect's vehicle entered Chisago County before finally being stopped on Forest Boulevard, south of North Branch.


There were no injuries to the public or law enforcement. The release states the suspects were transported to the hospital for evaluation and later released.


33-year-old Paul Brooks was arrested and charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, felony theft, multiple warrants.


He could face more charges as the investigation continues.


The Pine County Sheriff's Office was aided by the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, North Branch Police Department, Lakes Regions EMS, and the North Branch Fire Department.
