The Burnett County Sheriff's Office presented a resident with a Hero Award for his efforts earlier this year.
According to Sheriff Tracy Finch, Riley Snorek was following a friend of his to school on February 3 when he saw that his friend's car was on fire.
The truck became fully engulfed in flames, and his friend was unable to get himself out. Riley then risked his own life to save his friend from the fiery vehicle.
Finch said, "Riley is a true hero. He is very deserving of this award."
The award's plaque reads:
“Hero Award Presented to Riley Snorek, In recognition of your selfless and courageous act of rendering aid in a sudden and unexpected situation. Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.”
