Tigers Advance to the Section Championship Game!

Rush City's softball team made the trip up to Grand Rapids on Tuesday.

The first game of the afternoon saw a rematch against Proctor, the team who they had lost to in their regular season finale. Much like the first game these two teams played it was another pitchers dual. Early on neither team could find a way onto the base paths. Both pitchers and defenses made the plays necessary to keep runs off the board. Then before the 4th inning started the game was forced to pause for a rain delay. And after the delay the Rails saw an opportunity and made the most of it scoring 2 runs in the 4th. With only a few innings left the Tigers needed to get those two runs back. And quickly they were able to get runners in scoring position but were unable to bring them in. Such was the case in the final two innings as the Tigers fell to the Rails again 2-0. Despite the fantastic performance defensively and in the circle the Tigers were hurt again by errors in the game, which helped Proctor gain their lead.

The Tigers weren't done though, they had one more chance to put themselves into the championship game. They would have to defeat Esko, a team they beat 2-1 not long ago. the Tigers struck early getting on the board first with a run in the 2nd inning. But the top of the third saw Esko match that run and threaten to score another. Luckily the Tigers closed out the top and once again made it to the plate. The score didn't remain tied for long, as Rush City scored two runs before the end of the inning to take a 3-1 lead. This game was also stopped for rain. But the Tigers battled through and came back out and performed well. They didn't allow a single hit in the final four innings, while they added an insurance run to come out on top 4-1. With the win they punch their ticket to the section title game on Thursday, where they will for the 3rd time in two weeks play Proctor.
