Two are dead in Burnett County, Wisconsin following the collision of a semi and car Saturday afternoon.
Responders were called to a scene involving the vehicles at State Highway 70 at Williams Road in Grantsburg Township. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and the highway was closed for several hours due to the severity of the crash.
According to the Burnett County Sheriff's Office, a 2004 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Highway 70 when its driver lost control and was struck by the semi traveling westbound.
The driver of the Honda, 22-year-old Micaela Schneider of Plover, Wi., along with the passenger, 22-year-old Olivia Johnson of St. Paul, were both declared dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the semi were left with no significant injuries.
Grantsburg Fire Department, North Ambulance, Burnett County Highway Department, and the Burnett County Medical Examiner responded to the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
