Two-vehicle crash results in two deaths, multiple injuries in Burnett County

A two-vehicle crash resulted in two deaths and multiple injuries on Sunday morning in Burnett County.


According to a news release from the Burnett County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a report of a crash on State Highway 48/87 — south of Assembly Road in Anderson — just after 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 7.


An investigation determined that a Toyota van traveling southbound was going around a curve and went onto the shoulder.


The release states that it appeared the van overcorrected and went into the path of a northbound Jeep, causing the vehicles to collide.


The adult driver and front passenger of the Toyota were pronounced deceased at the scene.


Three juvenile passengers in the vehicle were transported to a Twin Cities hospital for further medical care.


The Jeep's adult driver and passenger were taken to Burnett Medical Center for their injuries.


No names have been released at this time.


The Grantsburg police and fire departments, North Ambulance and Air Care, Life Link Air Care, and the Burnett County Medical Examiner's Office assisted at the scene.
