Winter storm warning to take effect for much of east-central Minnesota

A winter storm warning is set to take effect from 10 p.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Sunday in much of east-central Minnesota, according to the National Weather Service.
Kanabec and Mille Lacs counties could see total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches, with between 10 and 15 inches possible in Chisago and Isanti counties.
The National Weather Service also says winds could gust as high as 40 miles per hour.
According to the NWS, the heaviest snow is expected on Saturday evening and overnight, with rates of 2 inches per hour possible.
Travel is expected to become very difficult or impossible late Saturday night into Sunday.
