Work Begins on County Road 9 near Pine City

Drivers traveling around the east side of Cross Lake in Pine City should expect slowdowns as work on County Road 9 has begun.

According to Pine County Engineer Mark Lebrun, crews are working on a two-mile stretch of County Road 9 from St Croix Rd to the Snake River. The project includes shoulder widening, an eight-foot separated trail, and drainage improvements.

Motorists should expect segments of the road to be restricted to one lane with temporary traffic signals into October.

LeBrun said that starting in December, crews will begin work on the Snake River Bridge with completion by August 2024.

The last segment of work on the $6.5 million projects will resurface from County State Aid Highways 65 and 8 intersection to the Snake River in September 2024.
