A new wave of phone scams swept through East Central Minnesota late last week.
Both the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office and Isanti County Sheriff’s Office reported numerous calls about scammers claiming to be the IRS, FBI, that they have a warrant for your arrest, or a family member is in jail.
One scammer even called a Chisago County Sheriff’s deputy, with no luck.
It’s important to note that those agencies will not call you, and that scammers are simply trying to rip off unsuspecting citizens.
If you suspect it is a scam call, simply hang up the phone.
The two county sheriff’s offices are also requesting this information be shared with parents and grandparents who are the main targets of the scams.
