High School Football Week Six Update

There are just two weeks left in the High School Football Season before playoffs. Here is where your favorite teams are standing:

Pine City 1-5

QRF Ranking: 42nd in State 6th in Section 5AAA

The Dragons find themselves in a similar position as they did last year sitting with a five game losing streak after winning week one. Pine City is going to have to find some determination after losing 48-7 to their rivals from Mora last week. Pine City's defense has been tough this year only allowing 23 points per game, but they have yet to find their rhythm offensively only scoring 13 a game. They have two winnable games left on the schedule with Moose Lake-Willow River and Crosby-Ironton and will be looking to move up in the section standings before playoffs. If things hold as they are right now, Pine City will be playing Mora in the first round of the playoffs.

Braham 4-2

QRF Ranking: 21st in State 2nd in Section 7A

Braham is coming off a 46-14 win over East Central last Friday night. The Bombers will probably finish the season 2nd in the section behind Deer River, who Braham lost to last week. The Bombers and Warriors will most like face off in the section championship as long as both teams take care of business.

Rush City 1-4

QRF Ranking: 54th in State 7th in Section 4AA

Rush City did get their first win of the season against East Central a couple weeks ago and then just lost a close one to Mesabi East. The Tigers have improved this year each week and will look to win the first annual "Big Cat" Trophy. This Friday night against Hinckley-Finlayson.

Hinckley-Finlayson 0-6

QRF Ranking: 52nd in State 4th in Section 7A

This has not been the year for Hinckley-Finlayson as they continue to rebuild. They have two games left and both are against teams they should matchup well against. This week they are on the road against Rush City and then they finish up the year at home against East Central. Hopefully the Jaguars can add a win before the season is over.

East Central 0-5

QRF Ranking: 56th in State 5th in Section 7A

East Central is in a similar position as Hinckley-Finlayson. The Eagles have yet to put up a win but have competed better than their scores would show. East Central has a tough home game this Friday against Mesabi East and will look to pick up a victory in their last week against Hinckley-Finlayson.

Mora 6-0

QRF Ranking: 7th in State 3rd in Section 5AAA

The Mustangs actually dropped two spots in both section and state rankings following their 48-7 win over Pine City on homecoming night. The Mustangs have everything working right for them right now and are poised to return to the State Tournament. The section is tough though with Annandale ranked #2 in the State and Spectrum ranked 6th. Mora should finish the season undefeated and host a first round playoff game.

North Branch 4-2

QRF Ranking: 12th in State 2nd in Section 7AAAA

North Branch has really turned things around after their 15-8 loss to Duluth East in Week three. The Vikings have now won three in a row and are sitting in second place in their section. They have two winnable games to wrap up the year against Grand Rapids and Proctor and should be looking at a home playoff game in their new stadium.

Cambridge-Isanti 4-2

QRF Ranking: 20th in State 3rd in Section 7AAAAA

The Bluejackets are falling off a little bit after starting the year 4-0. They have back to back losses to Andover and Buffalo. They have two difficult games to end the year too. This week they take on St. Francis who is currently in 2nd right above them in the section. And then they finish the year against the 6-0 powerhouse Elk River.
