DNR Issues Red Flag Warning

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has issued a Red Flag Warning for a majority of the state starting noon today due to extreme fire risk conditions.

A Red Flag Warning means fires can spread quickly and easily progress out of control under the current weather conditions, including gusty winds and low humidity.

The affected counties include Aitkin, Carlton, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, and Pine.

The DNR says that residents should not burn in counties where a Red Flag Warning is in effect and should check any recent burning they may have done to ensure the fire is completely out.

The Red Flag Warning is expected to end around 8:00 p.m. on May 2.
