The Pine City Dragons hosted rival Mora for their season opener.
These teams came into this game looking to open the season up with a win. Both teams came out firing. Mora held a 3 point lead but the Dragons quickly worked to erase that deficit. Pine City went on an 11-2 run to give themselves a 17-9 lead. The Dragons would continue to fly up and down the court, scoring at will and playing shut down defense. Going into halftime it was a 49-24 lead for Pine City. To begin the half the Dragons continued woth the momentum they held from the 1st half. But Mora was not going away easily. Trailing 57-26, Mora would go on a 7-0 run in the span of several minutes. It looked as if the Mustangs had found a formula to not only stop the Dragons from scoring but get themselves opportunities to score. But as quickly as they had found that formula to hold their rival down, Pine City found their way back to the scoreboard. The Dragons climbed out to a 59-38 lead halfway through the 2nd half, and that's when they began to pull away even farther. Despite trailing the Mustangs never gave up and battled hard through the entire game. Pine City would go on to win this rivalry game 80-48.
Leading the way for Pine City was Kloey Lind scoring 33 points, she was followed by Karly Jusczak who scored 28.
Jaiden Robb lead the Mustangs with 12 points and she was followed by Malayna Asmus with 11.
