Four Individuals will Represent Dragons Tennis at State!

Pine City HC Kristin Unverzagt with a Dragons tennis update!

We have four individuals advancing to the state tennis tournament to represent Pine City High School and Section 7A! The section 7A singles champion is Ella Sell and runner up is Addison Sell. The doubles champions are Sophie Lahti/Allison Unverzagt. These girls will be heading to the state tournament to play in the individual tournament following the team tournament on Thursday. Also representing PCHS in the section tournament was Malia Mikyska/Claire Emmons with a third place finish.

The past two days have been an opportunity for our girls to continue to grow their game and confidence. We are so proud of their efforts and determination.

The girls had a strong start to the tournament and we had all of our players in the semi-final matches.

Our players had to battle hard and push their mental toughness to battle through these matches. It was also a challenge as our teams ended up facing each other for both singles and doubles in the finals. However, due to true second, our doubles due of Mikyska/Emmons had to play out the true second match to Duluth Marshall. Despite the loss, they battled hard, played aggressive and smart. We are so proud of all the players for their grit and determination.

We are so proud of the girls and how they represented our team! They are tough!

On Monday night, we will celebrate with all qualifying teams at the state banquet dinner. Our team play begins on Tuesdays at Reed Sweatt Inner City Tennis Club and individual play begins on Thursday with singles at 8AM and doubles at 10AM.
