This year's East Central Minnesota Pride in the Park is happening this weekend in Pine City, and a local bar is looking to add additional pomp and circumstance for those gathered.
"We were thinking about what we could do because we always get a nice crowd from there," Aren Dilts, a cook a Froggy's Bar and Grill told WCMP.
The bar was looking for something more beyond drink specials to offer patrons when Dilts said she saw a friend's social media post.
"I have a friend who lives in Florida, and his partner is a drag queen. I was watching his Snapchat and wished we could do something like that in Pine City. Then I started thinking, why can't we do something like that in Pine City."
From there, the staff ran with it. Dilts reached out to East Central Minnesota Pride, who provided additional funding and connected her with the right people to get everything ready. The host of the drag show, Malibu Casey, gave Dilts the idea to have people sponsor the different queens performing, so they could get paid for their time.
If this is your first drag show, Dilts says you should expect a fun and inclusive time.
"They (the drag queens) dress up in beautiful, incredible clothing, and they get up on stage to lip-sync or sing and put on a show."
The event is an 18 and up show, but Froggy's asks for 18 to 20-year-olds to attend with someones at least 21-years-old.
The event is free, Froggies asks for people to call and make a reservation.
