Henry Abraham Scores 41 Points as Bluejackets Win the Section Championship

The Cambridge-Isanti boys basketball team traveled to Elk River High School last night.

The Bluejackets traveled there to take on the Duluth East Greyhounds in the Section 7AAAA Championship game. These two teams met twice during the regular season, with the Bluejackets winning both of those games. But the Greyhounds would not let that deter them. As soon as tip off came the Bluejackets got on the board and built themselves an early lead. Duluth East trailed until halfway through the 1st half, where they would fight back and grab the lead. The teams traded the lead for the remainder of the 1st half. But before the buzzer could sound, Cambridge-Isanti grabbed the lead going into the half 42-40. Coming out of halftime the game was back and forth once again, neither team could pull away from the other. Late in the 2nd half, the Bluejackets held a slim lead over the Greyhounds. Duluth East didn’t take long before they came back with a vengeance and claimed the lead. The Greyhounds only held the lead for a couple of minutes before the Bluejackets regained it once again. The Bluejackets wouldn’t let the lead slip away this time. With under 2 minutes left Duluth East had no choice but to foul and send the Bluejackets to the free throw line. Cambridge-Isanti was perfect at the line and managed to put the game out of reach. The Bluejackets got the victory 81-73. They claim the Section 7AAAA Championship! Henry Abraham lead the Bluejackets with 41 points.

With the win Cambridge-Isanti punches their ticket to the state tournament for the 2nd year in a row.

Congratulations Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets!
