Pine City Remains Unbeaten with Conference Win

The Eagles of East Central hosted Pine City on Tuesday night.

The first set was controlled by the Dragons and looked like they might cruise out of set one. But late in the set the Eagles ripped all momentum away from Pine City. Down 20-12 the Eagles went on a 8-4 run. But their comeback attempt fell just short as the Dragons grabbed the final point of the set 25-20.

Set two was all Pine City, they lead from the first serve and never looked back. Though East Central never gave in the Dragons claimed set two 25-15.

The third set was the complete opposite of the first two sets. The Dragons scored the first point of the set then it was all Eagles, as they went on to score 4 unanswered points. East Central climbed to an 8-4 lead and looked dominant. But that's when things switched, Pine City mounted the comeback and soon lead 12-10. The Dragons used the momentum of the comeback to continue to run away with the set. The Eagles knew they were never out of it and showed lots of heart trying to fight back, but it was too much as they dropped the final set 25-19.

Pine City remains undefeated on the season and moves to 2-0 on Great River Conference play. They will have a week off before hosting conference rival Rush City next Tuesday.

The Eagles have yet to win a conference match this year but will look to grab the first sooner than later. They'll travel up to Onamia on Thursday to play Mille Lacs.
