The Dragons hosted Great River Conference opponent Hinckley-Finlayson on Thursday night.
Pine City started the first set scoring first but the Jags were quick to answer and proved to be a thorn in the side of the Dragons. As Pine City would start to pull away Hinckley came back and grabbed a handful of points to keep themselves within a couple of the lead. The Dragons eventually created enough space to pull away and take set one 25-17. The 2nd set heavily favored Pine City. It seemed as if the Jaguars had lost any momentum gained in the previous set. The Dragons attacked early and often being aggressive and keep the Jaguars scrambled. Pine City handedly took set two 25-10.
The third set began and it looked similar to set two, the Dragons jumped out early and held a 10-3 lead. But Hinckley-Finlayson would not be put away so easily. They stole momentum and ran off a 9-3 tear pulling themselves within one of the lead. But just as quickly as the Jags made the comeback, Pine City would again pull away leading by 6. The Dragons once again saw their lead start to slip away as the Jaguars rattled off 5 straight points trailing 19-18. That's when the Dragons decided to finish the game, as they ended the set on a 6-1 run winning 25-19 and the match 3-0.
Pine City stays undefeated on the season with the win. They will against the Eagles of East Central on Tuesday in another conference game.
