The Dragon girls basketball team had a big week. They finished off their second straight undefeated conference season and Ellie Hasz went over 2000 points for her career and became the all time leading scorer in Pine City basketball history.

The Dragons used great defense and rebounding to go on a 36 to 10 run which spanned from half way through the first half to half way through the second half to pull away from the Bombers. The first few minutes of the game were back and forth with the Dragons leading 16-12 with about 8 minutes left in the half. From there the Dragon defense took over and with about 10 minutes left in the game the Dragons had built a 52-22 lead. "The girls really got after it on the defensive end. They were playing great position defense without fouling." The Dragons cruised to the victory from there. Ellie Hasz became the 2nd player in Dragon basketball history to score 2000 points in her career in the game. Hasz had 29 points 6 rebounds and 5 steals in the game. Sophie Lahti had 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Kloey Lind had 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Karly Jusczak had 4 points and 8 rebounds. Carissa Nascene had 3 points and 4 steals. Ella Sell had 3 points and 2 assists.

The Dragons had a great start, building a 30-4 lead, where 5 different players hit 3 point shots. In the game Ellie Hasz became the all time leading scorer in Pine City basketball history by passing 2020 graduate Lily Wilson's 2024 career points. "Ellie has worked really hard on her game for many years, so it is really nice to see all of that hard work pay off." The Dragons made 14 three pointers on the night and really moved the ball well to get great looks at the basket. "The kids really understand spacing and ball movement and do a great job of finding the open player. Ellie Hasz had 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Kloey Lind had 20 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Sophie Lahti had 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Carissa Nascene had 8 points, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 rebounds. Maddie Berglund had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Karly Jusczak had 4 points on the night.

In a very good high school basketball game the Wolves were able to outlast the Dragons when the final buzzer sounded. "Milaca played great. We have to give them a lot of credit. We put them on the schedule knowing that they would help us prepare for the playoffs as they have a number of big, physical kids." Milaca jumped out to an 11-2 lead and still lead 34-33 at half time. "It took us a little bit of time to get going. We had some nice stretches where we played very well, but Milaca always had an answer." In the second half the Dragons led by as much as five points only to have Milaca regain the lead soon after. Milaca hit their free throws down the stretch when they needed too and secured the victory. Sophie Lahti had 26 points including 5 three pointers, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks. Ellie Hasz had 26 points and 8 rebounds. Karly Jusczak had 7 points and 2 rebounds. Kloey Lind had 3 points, 5 rebounds, three assists and 3 steals. Carissa Nascene had 3 points. Ella Sell had 3 points. Maddie Berglund had 2 points and 2 assists.
"With playoffs right around the corner, this was a great learning experience for us. We will learn from it and be more prepared because of this game."
