Rush City Stays Undefeated in Conference Play

Rush City visited Pine City last night for an important game.

Pine City came into this game looking to split the series this year with Rush City, after the Dragons fell earlier in the season 3-1. The Dragons were also looking to keep pace with both Rush City and Mille Lacs for at least a share of the conference title.

The Tigers came into the first set and took control early, the Dragons closed the gap and kept it close. But towards the end of the 1st set Rush City pulled away and came away with the win 25-15. The 2nd set was a tug of war. One team grabbed a lead then the other came back tied it up and took a small lead of their own. Near the end of the set the Dragons took a 21-17 lead. After Pine City took a 24-19 lead the Tigers came back and scored two points of their own and looked to take over. The Dragons were able to score the final point and tie the match a 1 set a piece. The 3rd set was similar to the first and the Tigers won it 25-15 taking a 2-1 lead. The 4th set was exciting, entertaining, and competitive. This set was again back and forth neither team able to pull away. Halfway through the set the Dragons built a 18-12 lead and looked to bring this game to a 5th and final set. Rush City fought back and went on a 8-2 run to tie the game at 20. The Tigers took over the set from that point and scored five straight points to win the set 25-20 and claim a 3-1 victory.

Sense the Mille Lacs Raiders lost last night to Braham, Rush City controls their own destiny. If they win the rest of their games during the regular season they will claim the Great River Conference Title. It will come down to their game next Monday against Mille Lacs in Onamia.

Pine City will host Braham on Thursday and Rush City will host Ogilvie.
