The regular season has ended and we're now set for playoffs to start for the local teams.
Braham 8-12
QRF Ranking: 69th in State 7th in Section 4A
The Bombers offense has shown how explosive it can be. In 7 of their wins they scored over 10 points. They ran into a tough Goodhue team in their first playoff game, falling 11-1. Their season would end in a 21-1 lose to West Lutheran.
Hinckley-Finlayson 11-7
QRF Ranking: 41st in State 3rd in Section 5A East
After losing their first two games of the season, the Jaguars went on a six game win streak. They ended the season on a 4-1 run. The Jaguars can make a push for the sub section championship and will start the playoffs at home. They will host Ogilvie today.
East Central 3-16
QRF Ranking: 106th in State 5th in Section 5A East
The Eagles didn't have the season they hoped for, but with the playoffs starting anything can happen. The Eagles traveled to McGregor for their first round matchup. It was a good battle but East Central fell just short 8-9.
Rush City 16-4
QRF Ranking: 27th in State 3rd in Section 7AA
The Tigers are on a tear this year. With 4 losses on the year two of them came against Proctor, who is the #1 seed in the playoffs. The Tigers have already won a game in the playoffs, that win came over Crosby-Ironton 13-2. They will play Greenway on Thursday, a team who was one of their losses during the regular season. Rush City has a great chance to make a deep push in the playoffs.
Mora 12-9
QRF Ranking: 34th in State 4th in Section 7AA
The Mustangs opened up the season with three straight wins. A tough patch in the middle of the season saw them lose four straight games. But after the losing streak, they went on to win four straight games. The Mustangs won their opening playoff game against Aitkin 11-4. They will play against #1 seeded Proctor on Thursday.
Pine City 2-16
QRF Ranking: 114th in State 7th in Section 7AA
Pine City had a tough year, but this is a young team and will gain a lot of experience from this season to carry into next year. They did win their final game of the season over East Central. The Dragons fell in the first round of playoffs to a good MLWR team.
North Branch 11-9
QRF Ranking: 18th in State 2nd in Section 7AAA
The Vikings were 11-4 coming into the final stretch of the regular season. They would end on a sour note losing five straight. But they can forget about that as now the playoffs start. North Branch has a good enough team to make their way to the section championship. The road to that game starts today as they host Duluth Denfeld at 4pm.
Cambridge-Isanti 4-15
QRF Ranking: 55th in State 7th in Section 7AAAA
The Bluejackets record doesn't tell the whole story. This is a team who had many games where they were one bounce away from victory. C-I could be a squad that surprises a couple of people as they move through the section playoffs. They'll travel down to Blaine to take on the Bengals in the first round today.
