The Pine Center For the Arts will host the "Scenes of Serenity" exhibition throughout the month of January.
The exhibition, featuring the works of artists Katie Wagner and Brainerd resident Eric Twait, will open with an artists' reception from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2.
According to a news release from the Pine Center For the Arts, Twait will feature acrylic paintings in the gallery.
Twait said he draws inspiration from nature, and hopes his artwork conveys a sense of calmness.
"My brushstrokes convey a lot of movement, but the scenes are serene," Twait wrote in the release.
Wagner is a self-taught artist who also works in a variety of mediums, but will focus on watercolor with some acrylic, oil, and wood-burned work in the exhibition.
In the release, Wagner said she really started taking her artwork seriously about eight years ago, branching out after only using pencils until 2020.
"I work in watercolor, oil, pencil, markers, ink, acrylic pour, and wood burning," Wagner wrote in the release. "I started drawing at a young age, but only started taking it seriously at 16 when my brother passed away.”
Wagner said she draws inspiration from bright colors, and aims to evoke a sense of joy.
The gallery, which is made possible through grant funding from the East Central Regional Arts Council, will continue throughout January.
Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 pm, Thursday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The gallery is free and open to the public.
