Two Located Safe Sunday After Going Missing in Burnett Co.

One child and one adult have been located safe in Burnett County after going missing during a busy Sunday for law enforcement.

The child went missing Sunday afternoon but was located by a passerby several hours later and reunited with his family.

While that was going on, a vulnerable adult was reported missing from his home south of Grantsburg. The Burnett County Sheriff's Office was aided by several surrounding agencies to search for the man.

Sheriff Tracy Finch said that their new drone was what helped save the day.

"Thank goodness for our drone," Finch told WCMP. "One of our deputies was searching, and he had it in the infrared mode. He noticed a strange outline that wasn't like all the deer we were seeing."

The deputy used the drone's regular camera to spot the missing man. The man was then taken to a local hospital via Northland Ambulance and is expected to make a full recovery.

The Burnett County Sheriff's Office received the Autel EVO II Dual drone as a gift from the Frandsen Foundation earlier this year.

It took law enforcement a total of 13 hours to locate the man.

Sheriff Finch thanked all the assisting agencies and volunteers for their assistance.
