Head Coach Unverzagt tells us how the teams season officially ended. We wrapped up our tennis season celebrating our JV and Varsity seasons at our team banquet tonight.  The girls had a lot to celebrate at all levels.  We had a strong and competitive JV season with 24 tie break matches played!  Our varsity had a lot to celebrate as the section and conference champions.  They also earned all state academic gold as a team and conference academic champions with a team GPA of

Rush City played Crosby-Ironton on Wednesday night. The Tigers played in Hermantown against the Rangers in the section semi final. This was a game Rush City was looking forward to. They had lost to them during the regular season and were looking for some revenge.

A new section for the Braham Bombers volleyball squad means new opponents as well. Braham met one of those opponents in the semi-final on Tuesday night. The six-seed Bombers earned the right to travel to White Bear Lake to face to two-seed Liberty Classical Academy Lions after defeating the third-seed, Heritage Christian Academy.

Chisago Lakes hosted Hill-Murray on Friday night. These two teams met earlier in the season with Chisago getting the 3-0 sweep. The Wildcats would look for another sweep at home.

Pine City Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt updates us on the final matches of the season. The girls tennis season is officially wrapped up!

Chisago Lakes hosted Minneapolis Edison on Wednesday night. The Wildcats came into the playoffs having won 4 of their last 5 games. Early on both teams were getting out the playoff jitters. But eventually both sides settled into a groove. Early in the 1st set Edison was able to keep it close, but sooner than later the Wildcats shifted the game in their favor. They would dominate the rest of the set winning set 1 25-9.

Pine City hosted Mora on Tuesday night. For the 2nd time in nearly as many weeks, the Dragons and Mustangs would hit the field for their rivalry game. The last time out, Pine City was able to get the shutout win at home. But this time, there was more on the line than just pride, the winner would move on to the section semi finals on Saturday.

Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt tells us how the State Tournament has gone. The girls fell in two tough battles today, but represented Pine City well.  They have so much to be proud of. 

Fall playoffs have begun! Let’s see how area volleyball teams fared and who they’ll play. Class A Section 4 (6) Braham 9-17 The Bombers finished strong and earned a six-seed in their section. They will host the winner of Sejong Academy and St. Paul City on Thursday. The Bombers haven’t played either squad this season. Section 5 (3) Mille Lacs 11-16 The Raiders picked up the third seed in their sub-section. They will host Upsala on Wednesday. Mille Lacs defeated the Cardinals

Playoffs for the fall season has begun! Here’s a look at how our local teams fared and who they’ll play! 9-Player Section 5 (3) Ogilvie 6-2 The Lions earned the third seed in their section. They will host Verndale on Tuesday night. Ogilvie defeated the Pirates 42-14 back on September 19th. (4) Mille Lacs 6-2 Mille Lacs claimed the fourth seed in the section. They will host Sebeka on Tuesday night. Mille Lacs earned a victory over the Trojans on September 19th. Class A Section

Rush City hosted Hinckley-Finlayson on Wednesday night. The Tigers came into the regular season finale having won on homecoming night, while the Jags lost to a tough Aitkin team on their own homecoming. The Tigers received the opening kickoff, and only needed two plays to get a first down. But they were then stopped and forced to punt after the next three plays. On the punt would come the first score, the Jags Jacob Lyons Jr went 57 yards for a punt return touchdown. Th

Dragons Girls Tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt updates on how the individuals have done at the sections.

Rush City hosted Braham on Monday night. Both teams were coming in having won last week, and had nearly a week off. So both teams were coming in well rested and hungry for another conference win.

East Central hosted Ely for their homecoming game on Friday night. Ely came in 1-5 and East Central was 0-6 and looking for their first victory of the season. The two teams traded blows in the first quarter. There were five touchdowns between the two teams, including back-to-back kickoff returns by both teams. The score at the end of the opening quarter was 24-16.

Rush City hosted Crosby-Ironton on Friday night. The Tigers came in off a two game losing streak in which they had trouble hanging onto the ball. But it was time to turn the page and move forward. While homecoming is a busy week, the Tigers were able to keep their focus on the things they needed to fix and improve on.

Kristin Unverzagt, the Lady Dragons HC gives us the update on the teams playoff journey! The Dragon tennis team is state bound after capturing the section 7A title this afternoon.  We had a tough battle with Pierz to earn this win and it was so much fun to watch! 

Pine City Girls Tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt updates us on the teams playoff run! The Dragons hosted Mora in a great semi-final match.  Mora came to play, and it was a fun match for the team.  Our singles players utilized their strengths to set up the points.  Some of our closest matches were in doubles.

The Wildcats hosted the Hornets on Tuesday night. Chisago Lakes came into this game on a 3 game win streak, while Big Lake had come up just short in their last couple games.

Hinckley-Finlayson hosted Floodwood on Monday night. The Jags started off a busy homecoming week against one of the top teams in Class A volleyball.
